Sound of the Week: Saved by the Bell
Happy Thursday and welcome to our Sound of the Week. In case you’ve missed it, Sound of the Week is our weekly series highlighting music and sound effects that reflect the everyday moments happening all around us.
As we escape the confinements of our homes to appreciate the warmer weather, there’s one group of people celebrating a different kind of freedom—teachers. With summer just around the corner, it’s time for teachers to start counting down those last few days before they hear the sweet sound of the year’s final school bell.
From teaching even the most stubborn students how to add, subtract, and multiply fractions to helping children who are being teased or bullied, teachers are our children’s daytime guides and guardians. They are responsible for enriching the minds of our future leaders even as they help our children reach their fullest potential mentally, emotionally, and physically—but pretty soon, the sweet sound of freedom will ring out, offering a much-deserved respite for the season. After all, while they love to be there for all of their students, they really need a break.
For students, the school bell means a different form of freedom, and for many parents the last school bell is the most stress-inducing sound they can imagine. No matter what the sound means to you, let it serve as a reminder to thank our teachers—they deserve it!
